From start to finish we want to provide a nurturing birth experience and environment.
The main birth suite is spacious and calming. It has a luxurious queen sized bed, birthing balls, and seating along with its own bath area and plenty of storage for your belongings and any necessary supplies and equipment at hand.
You will always be greeted by either a midwife and attended onsite for the duration of your labor and birth by either a midwife or another member of our birth team.
We are very adept at meeting your needs and assisting your birth work however desired. Family members, friends or doulas are welcome to be present also, according to your request. We will assist them in supporting your labor and birth as well. Privacy and intimacy are fostered during this sacred time and you will always have the option to choose who enters into your space.
During the actual birth, we will always have a minimum of TWO licensed and experienced providers present, ensuring that care is at hand for BOTH mama AND baby. While we don’t anticipate using it, everyone is skilled in neonatal resuscitation and emergency transport. We also have a detailed transport protocol in place for either emergent or non-emergent situations should they arise.
At birth, baby will be place skin to skin for at least the first hour on mom for transition to life outside the womb. We do not bathe babies as the creamy white vernix is a protective coating for temperature regulation and infection prevention.
After birth, you will have an initial recovery period for the first two hours where you will be attended continuously onsite. You may stay and continue your recovery for 6-48 hours for, depending on desires and needs. At this time, we often step back and give your family space for sleep, bonding and rejuvenation.
